Workshop on Inclusion and Visual Language at TU Dortmund - Workshop TU Dortmund
Description
How can the design of images for public relations work and for teaching and learning materials succeed so that the image material is diversity-sensitive, heteronormative image design is questioned and common stereotypes are not further entrenched? How is it possible in an inclusive collaborative process to develop authentic visual material in line with needs and, in the best case, even lead to sustainable changes in attitudes?
These questions were addressed in a workshop on diversity-sensitive image and media design, which was conducted in the context of the DoProfiL project (Dortmund Profile for Inclusive Teacher Education).
DoProfiL has been funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) since 2016 as part of the "Quality Offensive Teacher Education" and aims at different levels to make inclusion orientation in its entirety, including all diversity aspects, an integral part of teacher education.
The topic of inclusion-oriented image design and media work has so far received little or no attention, but is indispensable for the visualization of inclusion-oriented and diversity-sensitive teaching/learning materials.
In cooperation with the association Sozialheld*innen e.V., which has been working for 15 years on solutions for more participation and accessibility on various social levels and has great expertise in the field of diversity in image representation, a two-day workshop took place. - Workshop on inclusion and visual language at TU Dortmund University with Anna Spindelndreier and Andi Weiland
