2. Scope

3. Licensed Use

• The acquisition of a license is required for any use of images from Gesellschaftsbilder.de.
• This applies to both editorial and commercial use.
• The prices for the different types of use can be found in our current price list.

4. Editorial Use

• Editorial use includes, but is not limited to:
  • Illustration of news articles
  • Use in educational media
  • Use in non-commercial publications
• A license is also required for editorial use.
• The images may not be used in a misleading or distorting manner.
• Users are obligated to observe the journalistic principles of the German Press Code or comparable journalistic duties of care.

5. Commercial Use

Commercial use includes, but is not limited to:

• Flyer and poster advertising (also for non-profit organizations)
• Promotion of products and services (including on social networks)
• Use in advertising brochures, leaflets or conference materials
• Use on commercial websites or in online shops
• Use in company reports or business presentations

6. Licensing Process

1. Identify the desired image on Gesellschaftsbilder.de using the media ID
2. Check the licensing options in the image description
3. Contact the editors at [email protected] or the specified third party provider
4. Specify the exact purpose (editorial or commercial) and scope of use
5. Agree on the terms of use and fees
6. Obtain written license confirmation before use

7. Image Editing and Use

• Basic adjustments such as resizing or cropping are permitted as long as they do not distort the image content.
• Content changes or manipulations are not permitted.
• Special editing requests must be discussed and approved with the licensor in advance.

8. Attribution and Copyright

• The author's name must be indicated for every use.
• The correct format is: "© [Author's name] | Gesellschaftsbilder.de"
• The attribution must be in the immediate vicinity of the image or in the image credits.
• For digital use, the image credit should be linked to the Gesellschaftsbilder.de website if possible.

9. Use in Social Media

• The acquired license includes the use of the image in social media, unless otherwise agreed.
• This includes:
  1. Use as a preview image when sharing links on social networks.
  2. Direct use of the image in posts or stories on social platforms.
  3. Use of the image in paid advertising campaigns on social media.
• Attribution must be given for every use, including thumbnails. For thumbnails, attribution must be provided in the accompanying text or in the first comment line.
• When licensing, the intended reach (e.g. estimated number of followers, planned advertising budget) and the expected duration of use in social media must be specified.
• For viral campaigns or uses that go beyond the originally stated scope, a subsequent licensing may be required.
• The license applies to all common social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok), unless certain platforms have been explicitly excluded.
• When using social media, the respective terms of use and community guidelines of the platforms must be observed.
• Gesellschaftsbilder.de reserves the right to monitor the use in social media and to take action in case of violations of these conditions.

10. Disclaimer

• Gesellschaftsbilder.de assumes no liability for the image content or any rights of third parties.
• Users are obliged to check the suitability of the images for the intended purpose themselves.
• In case of uncertainties regarding the rights of use of depicted persons or objects, the licensee must obtain the necessary releases himself.

11. Revocation and Termination

• Gesellschaftsbilder.de reserves the right to revoke licenses in case of violation of the terms of use.
• In case of revocation, the use of the affected image must be stopped immediately.
• A refund of already paid license fees will only be made in exceptional cases.

12. Data Protection

• Personal data collected in the context of licensing will be treated confidentially.

13. Updating the Terms of Use

• Gesellschaftsbilder.de reserves the right to update these terms of use.
• Changes will be announced on the website.
• For licenses already acquired, the conditions valid at the time of acquisition apply.
