Mehtap | Inclusion and work
Description
Methap Yalcin has learning difficulties (expert opinion: slight mental handicap, delayed personality development, limited dexterity and speech, practical independence). However, employment in a workshop for disabled people was never an option for the young woman. With the help of the personal budget, Methap wanted support to obtain employment in the general labor market that was subject to social insurance contributions, and turned to the Netzwerk für betriebliche Integration und Sozialforschung e.V. (BIS). Since then, the young woman, who likes to wear bright colors and wear colorful hair clips, has been completing an internship at "Cha Chã - positive eating" in Berlin Mitte. As a bar and service worker, she serves fresh smoothies, iced tea and other drinks to guests on Friedrichstraße for eight hours a day. She is integrated into the team and receives recognition and attention. The internship is supported by BIS e.V. The company and Methap always have Detlef Kube at their side, who visits them once a week, accompanies integration processes in the company and is available to both sides in the event of problems. Methap can turn to him for help with company or private questions. She also receives support and remedial instruction, for example, to learn the ingredients of a new smoothie. The fact that the internship has not yet turned into an apprenticeship and has lasted much longer than normal is due to a psychological assessment by the employment agency. This states that Methap is not fit for the labor market and is not allowed to work more than three hours a day and 15 hours a week. At Cha Chã, she proves the opposite every day. For this reason, a legal action has been in progress for several years, so that Methap can seek the support of BIS e.V.
