The picture shows a Roma flag waving in the wind. It was taken on June 28, 2018 at a vigil in solidarity with Ukrainian Roma (gender-sensitive Rom*nja) in front of the Ukrainian Embassy in Berlin. In 2018, there were several pogroms against Rom*nja in Ukraine. Since the first World Rom*nja Congress, the flag has stood for the Rom*nja struggle for equality. The World Rom*nja Congress took place in London on April 8, 1971. 23 representatives of the Rom*nja from 14 European countries came together and agreed on their own anthem, ("Gelem, Gelem"), their own flag and the self-designation Rom*nja.
