Roma Day 2019
Description
Participants of the demonstration for Roma Day 2019 in Berlin. On April 8, 1971, the first World Roma Congress took place in London, where 23 representatives of the minority from 14 European countries met. They agreed on their own anthem, ("Gelem, Gelem"), their own flag and the self-designation Roma (gender-sensitive Rom*nja). Their goal was to fight together for equal rights for Rom*nja. Since then, April 8 has been celebrated as International Rom*nja Day. Since 2016, the alliance Roma Day - Solidarity with the Sinti and Roma of Europe organizes actions on April 8, such as this demonstration and rally 2019 in Berlin.
